The beautiful and bountiful tropical gardens and grounds of Milkwood Steiner School are much loved by the children and offer an environment ripe for discovery and play.
Milkwood Steiner School is part of Greening Australia’s, ‘Enhancing Habitat’ program and has nest boxes placed in some of the trees to provide shelter for the endangered Black Footed Tree-Rat. As part of this program the students have planted over 50 trees, provided by Greening Australia in the Bush Block with Di Lucas in recent years. Environment Centre Northern Territory through the Cool Communities Project, donated 50 native trees in 2020 as part of a Carbon-footprint workshop series.
Class curriculum’s integrate the gardens seasonally with parents and friends of Milkwood contributing greatly to the gardens weekly. Talk to your class teachers or the office staff to offer help. We always welcome keen gardeners.
